Sloppy Early Weekend. Cold Settles In Through Monday.

Looks like a dreary start to your weekend as rain and snow moves into western PA while DC sees rain on Saturday. More moisture in the region has allowed for temperatures to stay above freezing for much of western PA tonight, keeping any precipitation as just rain.  The chance of rain and snow will move in tomorrow as a better push of cold air allows for a chance of snow to mix into western PA, especially closer to Lake Erie. Sunday will dry out as partly cloudy skies settle into the region. Highs in western PA will be in the mid 40s to low 50s today before low to mid 40s move in on Saturday and Sunday. Lows in the mid to upper 30s tonight will drop off into the mid 20s to low 30s by tomorrow night and Sunday night. DC will see mostly cloudy skies throughout today before a chance of rain moves in on Saturday and conditions dry out on Sunday. Highs in the upper 50s and low 60s today will drop into the low 50s tomorrow before upper 40s move in on Sunday. Lows in the mid to upper 40s overnight tonight will drop into the low 40s tomorrow night before mid 30s move in Sunday night. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend! Stay warm and dry!

Moisture Keeps Lows Warmer Fri. Night into Early Sat. Rain/Snow/Sloppy in Western PA.

As I said with the risks the other day, more moisture could keep low temperatures up during the night Friday night into early Saturday. This looks to occur as lows may only reach the mid to upper 30s in western PA, allowing for precipitation to stay mainly as rain with some snowflakes mixed in. Very little or no snow accumulations are expected as the surface should stay above freezing. Today, mostly cloudy skies will occur in western PA while the DC Region looks at mostly sunny skies. Rain will move into western PA on Friday before allowing for snow to mix in with the rain overnight into early Saturday. The DC Region will see clouds increase on Friday before a chance of showers moves in on Saturday. Highs in western PA will hold in the upper 40s to low 50s today before mid to upper 40s move in on Friday. Saturday will cool down further as highs in the upper 30s to mid 40s occur. Lows in the mid to upper 30s the next couple of nights will drop into the upper 20s and low 30s Saturday night. The DC Region will see highs in the mid to upper 50s today and tomorrow before dropping off into the low 50s on Saturday. Lows in the low 40s the next couple nights before upper 30s settle in on Saturday night. Have a fantastic thirsty Thursday. May be a day to stay hydrated with some hot beverages. Take care folks!

Snow Still Possible In Western PA Friday Night into Saturday. Cold Weekend.

Despite a warmer trend in the mid-levels of the atmosphere on the models, western PA should still see a chance of snow overnight Friday and into early Saturday. NW PA will be the best chance for any to lay on the ground, but rain mixed in early could keep accumulations limited to a dusting if that. SW PA will most likely see a sloppier solution, mostly rain with some flakes potentially mixing in. The closer you get to the ocean, the less likely it will be to see any snow. Showers will move into the DC Region today before drying out into the late work week. Western PA will stay mainly dry the next couple days before a chance of rain moves in Friday with potential for snow to mix in during the overnight hours into Saturday. Afternoon highs in the low 60s in the DC Region today will drop into the upper 50s to low 60s tomorrow before mid to upper 50s move in on Friday. I’m finally back from my wonderful mini vacation to Pittsburgh. The good news is that similar weather from the weekend will linger into today. The bad news is that a front will bring breezy conditions and a chance of rain to the region on Tuesday (Western PA) and Wednesday (DC Region) before temperatures dive to significantly cooler temperatures.
